2023 Summary Activities
Program in Texas 6/5
"Grateful to the Pakistani American Congress and its president, Dr. Ashraf Abbasi, for a warm hearted program in Houston, Texas. The plight of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui will not be forgotten!"
Tariq Ramadan
"A ONE-ON-ONE WITH DR. TARIQ RAMADAN
Alhamdullilah, I had an excellent, information packed public conversation with Dr. Tariq Ramadan this afternoon. After his recent victory in a Swiss court, we explored the following:
The crises in India, Pakistan, Palestine, and Sudan. If you agree that this was a quality discussion do share it with others:)!"
Alhamdullilah! This press release out of Pakistan represents one major breakthrough, after years of struggle! We pray that the next, and most important breakthrough, will be the release and repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui before the end of this year!

Salaamedia Broadcast 5/21
Salaams to All:
Today’s broadcast (“The Challenges Confronting Muslims, Part 2”) is personal. It’s inspired, in part, by a dear friend (who’s just like family) on life support in a Philadelphia hospital. Her name is Shakuntala Thomas. We call her Maiya❣️
I just learned that another dear friend, Br Issa Smith, is being removed from life support today in a Northern Virginia hospital. (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon)
I’m quite certain that my brother in Islam (Issa) wil be surrounded by his loved ones when he takes his last breath. As for the brown skinned woman from Nepal…not so sure.

Human Rights 5/10
HUMAN RIGHTS BEGINS AT HOME, PT 2
Description: The case of a “Muslim” family in Virginia (including an 80 year old matriarch) who were successfully prosecuted in federal court for compelling the domestic labor of a Pakistani woman.
This case is painfully instructive, and so very sad!

Raleigh Municipal Center City Council Hearing 5/3
A Pictorial Snapshot of “Civic Engagement” The attached photo captures the final phase of the (once standing room only) crowd still present in the Raleigh Municipal Center for the final phase of last night’s City Council Hearing. I took the train from DC to Raleigh (NC) to witness the argumentation around the King Khalid Mosque controversy at Shaw University - a well known HBCU. We are scheduled for a public conversation on this hot topic this coming Sunday over the Salaamedia network, iA. Do join us if you can @ 2pm (EST). EHMS
REFLECTIONS ON PALESTINE, SUDAN, and AAFIA were the topics of focus for today’s broadcast.

Human Rights 4/29
Former talk show host Jerry Springer recently passed away. This video showcases what he became known for (shock television). This rather unique broadcast also underscores something very, very important. Hate is NOT inborn; it’s something that has to be taught.
Even though this show aired 30 years ago, my heart bleeds for the poison fed to these young souls; and I can’t help but wonder what is the majority of their (grownup) attitudes today? And if their attitudes are the same, how has such poisonous belief impacted THEIR OWN LIVES?!
Furthermore, for members of the Jewish community who see this video (both here and abroad) how do they countenance these same attitudes, and worse, BEHAVIORS, today in Occupied Palestine?!
Something to think about…

Flyer Distribution
Young Muslim brothers were sharing these handouts (below) to willing recipients after the second Eid prayer at the Islamic Center of Bridgeport (CT).
If I had seen them (I attended the first prayer) I would have congratulated and thanked them for their communal consciousness on this blessed day; and most importantly, for not forgetting their elder brother, Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin (the former H.Rap Brown), a respected leader and political prisoner.
May ALLAH free him soon through our efforts. Ameen.

The Deen Show
ASA, FYI:
Salaams to All:
MARCH 2023 Is The 20th Oppressive Anniversary of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s Unjust Imprisonment; an imprisonment based on LIES and Deceits!
A human rights initiative for Aafia will be held in Washington, DC, on March 30th & 31st. This is a good time for Muslim orgs who have been silent to come out of the shadows. If not now, when?!
For background info on this troubling case, check out the attached video (from a Chicago interview years ago)…
